Two, both with fish, over Langstone Channel at 10.10, one (not aged) departed high NNE, the other, the usual adult, returned to the dead oak trees on North Binness Island. One juvenile arrived from the west over Hilsea at 10.30 and drifted south over Broom Channel before departing purposely southwest at 10.40.

Flying high above the pylons at Marchwood Road near the Trotts Lane/Bury Lane junction, with a fish in its talons, hotly pursued by a red kite. After a couple of minutes it flew off towards Redbridge, still being chased by the red kite. Quite spectacular and totally unexpected - assume it had just caught the fish in the Test at Eling Great Marsh. Great finale to an otherwise leisurely walk! SU368119.
