The hedgerows have been alive with birds today and three dark-billed blackbirds have just appeared in the garden. 'Continental' or 1st winter males? Clearly there has been an influx today. Just for good measure, unusually, a great spotted woodpecker appeared on the fence which a yellow-billed blackbird took exception to but the others ignored.

ad fem. Ringed female LE19375 in the linear park/Tattenhoe Valley Park, first spotted here on 2nd March. She was ringed as a first year bird on 28th December 2017 in the ringer's garden in Beckingham, Retford, Nottinghamshire, 158 KM away from this site. This is the first confirmed record of her since being given the ring. Thanks to the BTO ringing team for supplying this information.
