First bird re-emerged from far RH reedbed. Second bird waded along channel towards first, which flew to end of channel when second bird was less than 1m away. Second bird flew after it. First bird flew off to reedbed on E side of lake. Second bird walked into far RH reedbed. | |||

Stayed visible in LH channel 5mins, then back into far LH reedbed. 09:03 emerged into LH channel again for 2mins, walked into LH central reedbed. 09:29 flew from (I think) LH central reedbed to RH central reedbed, emerging into far end RH channel at 09:34. Waded along/across far end RH channel; walked into far RH reedbed at 09:39. | |||

| 16:00 | Seen very briefly in flight as it dropped into a patch in the reeds. Surely a returning bird and has probably overwintered here for years. Tonight it landed ( presumably getting ready to roost) within 5m of where I saw one roosting this time last year and in a similar area to previous winters. | |||
