5P F FawkesLepe148Coastal (Solent) from Inchmery House east to the coastal strip of the Cadland Estate. The area covers all 'accessible' habitat four hundred yards or thereabouts inland of the coast and includes Lepe Farm, the Dark Water Estuary, Lepe Country Park (and Nature Reserve) and Stansore Point. To my knowledge, the total number of species recorded in this area is 169, but I shall stand corrected!12/12/2015
=D WallaceChilling, Brownwich and Titchfield Haven148My home patch, a 5 x 5 km coastal square comprising mainly Chilling, Brownwich and Titchfield Haven. Undoubted highlights have been the Greater Yellowlegs found by Mark Rolfe/ Dan Houghton and the Penduline Tits found by Ian Calderwood. Two other patch lifers: Black-necked Grebe and Shag; also Cattle Egret, found by GB.31/12/2015
7A S Rhodescalshot, Ashlett creek and Badminston146Coastal 3 x 3km. Calshot with Badminston Gravel pit and common area and Ashlett creek. Last year did my first patch year list and saw 123. Good spring for patch with 1st or 2nd patch records of Turtle Dove, Avocet, Bonxie, A Skua, Fulmar, Sanderling, and Red Kite ending with a late GN Diver on 31st May. Added Black Tern to patch list 14/8 plus finally squinted hard enough to get Common Scoter over at Hill Head for the year. Added 5 more on 16/8 including Garden Warbler which I dipped last year. Technically best bird of Autumn was Wryneck but patch ticked Brambling, RT and BT divers. December was hard but scored kittiwake and finally on last day finally saw a Shag. A good year concentrating on just this one patch with no visits to Needs Oar, my other patch and lots of visits to get common Hants birds but not so common at Calshot. It will be a long time before I get a high list like this or even attempt a big year.31/12/2015

23S MansfieldAlton97Same as last year: 8*3 including woodland, farmland, town and a couple of ponds and streams. Alton - Beech/Chawton to East Worldham. All by foot/cycle from home. 51 on foot from home New Years Day. Best ever year - but nothing new since Wigeon in October. At one point 100 seemed possible but no Greylag or other wildfowl, water rail, or Stonechat showed up in the autumn/winter. Highlights: 3 Firecrests in January. Snipe, Golden Plover both missed last year. Flock of 12 Woodlark. Passage singing Reed Warbler new patch record. Wigeon on two occasions. Decent autumn with Whinchat and first (passage) Tree Pipit for a few years. The arrival of Naturetrek offices "on patch" means that other birds have been recorded which I have missed - especially Black Redstart, also Redstart, Lesser Whitethroat, with a HOS walk finding Sedge Warbler along the Caker stream. Total belatedly upped to 97 - missed Whinchat from the list25/02/2016
