with a Tench that it caught within the reedbed, I estimated 12 oz at time, looking at pics maybe more ? Having it watched this one fishing for many hours now, rule seems to be if it gets a 1-6oz fish it swallows it within reeds, if it gets a big one it runs out onto a raised lump ( which we created) in the open channel cuts and deals with it there.Guess it needs room to struggle with it ? Always swallowed whole, and a Tench has a thick, rubbery mucus coating over dense solid, small scales.
