A flock of 13 Icelandic Black-tailed Godwits on the flood at Mill Lane, presumably the flock seen earlier by Paul Lewis over Croxley Common Moor. Seen with John Edwards, these are the first I have ever seen in the Amersham area and many thanks to Mr Quy for the neads up.

What was presumably Mike Wallen's Rowsham bird relocated with Lapwings to the main bund at Wilstone Reservoir. At around 1544, Roy Hargreaves and I watched the flock take flight and after a few circuits of the reservoir, the Godwit started calling loudly and peeled away from the flock and flew strongly west and then north over Drayton Beauchamp. It then arrived at Grovebury early evening. It was in full winter plumage.

Winter Plumage, an interesting time of year for one, with Lapwings on flood between Rowsham and Hulcott. A first on the deck here in nearly 25years and only the 3rd/ 4th record ever. Photo'd.
