| 22:39 | Initially heard at about 300 mtrs a couple of calls from bankside vegetation along the Return Lake but not located. Just before the bridge at 1400 mtrs I heard the call again from slightly behind me, then saw it fly low and straight landing again, just managed to pick out white outer tail feather and olive/grey back which looked plainish not heavily streaked. It then took off again, calling, a single call twice. It flew far off towards the Thames in a big loop. I hoped to pick it up on my return but no luck. I've now compared calls on xeno-canto and I'm happy to confidently say Water Pipit. PLEASE NOTE: Please note this site is currently closed to the public. | |||
