A pair - possibly last year's successful breeders - flew into the existing swift box in my back garden, which has the old nest still intact, and didn't reappear for the next 50 minutes when I finally called it a day. In addition, up to 4 'bangers' flew through the garden, screaming and hitting both boxes, at various times throughout the afternoon. SU362127.

As in previous years, ownership of the south scrape nesting platform is keenly contested. Earlier in the morning it was a shelduck, on return at 8:40, an oystercatcher was in possession. Oystercatchers bred here in 2021.
