male. Outstanding Jack in from the SE just above tree top height and straight into the pre-roost Greenfinch flock which he scattered into the sky. Followed by 2 more circuits over my garden, Wings tight in at full speed chasing the flock and then departed west with no prize. A real spectacle.

m. South side of the woods along the private lane leading from Cuckoo Lane to Freeland House. Initially perched at the top of a tree offering clear views. Mobbed by pair of Mistle Thrush and a dozen Blue Tit alarm calling. Flew ESE. SP406124.

male. Flying very quickly North at medium height in hunting mode.

Whilst a Male Sparrowhawk took the attention of the c100 strong Greenfinch roost, the Merlin shot through like a rocket grabbing a Greenfinch and then was briefly pursued by the Spar hoping she would drop her catch before giving up and flying back over the Greenfinch roost but to no avail. An explosive few seconds of great excitement.
