Saw cattle egrets at 4 different sites as I walked along Thames Path upstream from the Trout. (1) In field (with no cattle) just past where path passes under the A34. Saw 14 birds fly towards Kings Lock (2) Field next to Kings Lock with cattle. Long grass so hard to count - at least 10 (3) At Cassington end of Yarnton Mead seen across river from the Thames Path - 5 birds amongst cattle. (4) Cattle had been put into field just upstream from Kings Lock by the time I walked back. Counted 4 birds here.

By cattle in a field next to the Thames Path halfway to Eynsham Lock from Kings Lock. Long grass made birds difficult to see so 30 is probably an undercount. Birds also visible from Oxford Greenbelt Way as it passes below Wytham Woods. As I walked back I noticed 3 cattle egrets by another group of cattle on the opposite bank in the field which has a kissing gate onto the A40 near Cassington. SP454093.

At same location as last Saturday by Thames path upstream of Hagley Pond foot bridge. Amongst cattle until they were flushed by the farmer on a quadbike who came to check the cattle. Could be same birds reported in Wytham this morning - just a few hundred yards away.

Same location where I saw them yesterday, just upstream of Hagley Pool by Thames path. They were hidden in long grass amongst the cattle with only a few visible at any one time. It was only when they occasionally flew up that the number of birds was apparent.

Amongst cattle by Thames Path just upstream of weir where Wytham stream leaves Thames near field station. Not visible from my viewpoint on the opposite side of the river until they flew up and circled for 20 seconds before settling again by the cattle. SP472102.
