With MSW and R.Hargreaves. An incredible morning with some high quality scarcities and great views of these. Over to the west or south-west in 4hrs solid vis-mig. Early into the session a single bird dropped in with Redwings. Then a stunning flock of 5 birds on their own went through, affording scope views. At least 2 of this flock were adult males. Then a bit later another single arrived with Fieldfare and Redwings.

The birds first found by Roy Hargreaves over a week ago still present this morning, frequenting the first open expanse of scrubless slope above the quarry. Peak count up until today was of 5. 3 males and 5 females showing well today.

male. Still, same bird from the last few days that's been commuting between Steps Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon. I was very lucky with a close encounter, as I waited on hands and knees to photo the Redstart when the Rouzel flew into a dead tree near to me ( photo to be uploaded).

Male. Initially perched at top of small tree by the 's-bend' gate, it flew onto the pasture nearer to the sheep pens. Prolonged views.

At the base of the northern slope from the main car park, chacking from bushes. Confirmed in conversation with Roy Hargreaves that this bird is cummuting from these bushes all the way out to the slopes on the Beacon.

Male, spotted by Stewart feeding at the edge of a 6m field margin in cultivated field. Watched for 2 minutes then disappeared over the ridge in field, reappearing again after 50 minutes, disappeared again, popping up again shortly after Mike Collard arrived 30 minutes later. Seen with Stewart Dennis & Mike Collard.
