| 18:00 | Hello, I was kayaking out of Eling (just before HW) and spotted a large bird of prey (BOP) being mobbed by a black backed gull. The BOP easily lost the gull then began to quarter across the main channel south of the Redbridge causeway before hovering for a short while perhaps 100' up then diving into the water. On the second dive I could clearly see a fish in its talons, it flew away low shaking the excess water off its wings. It was larger than the black backed gull with long slender wings, pale underparts. Was this an Osprey? It was an awesome sight and not put off by my Kayak. Goatee beach would provide a good vantage point from land, I will look again tomorrow night, weather permitting. Damon. | ||||
