both juv. Couldn't believe my eyes this morning when I conducted a regular early morning check of the Old Amersham Flood Meadows. As I approached the corner of the stubble field by the gate, I could hear what I thought were TREE SPARROWS and a s I approached and a flock of 13 Yellowhammers flew up, there they were - two juveniles sat in the hedgerow! These are the first Tree Sparrows I have seen in the local recording area for almost 30 years - ever since they became extinct as a breeder in around 1990. They are the first I have seen in Buckinghamshire for over two years - the last few in the colony at Little Linford Wood departing in 2020. I can only assume that they are dispersing juveniles from colonies further north in Yorkshire and Northumberland. Photographed.

Note to recorder - Mike, I'm pretty sure I heard a Tree Sparrow by the feeders this morning, but it never showed itself.
