Definite 5, possibly 6. After 3hrs + none found ( was misty early) but on shop route on way down 2 top South slopes in a favoured area then 3 together near base.3 together were just past burning beacon not far from shop, one smart male, never found them on this bit before.

A minimum of 4 new birds arrived overnight. There were 5 birds together in about 70 metres of hedge with 4 in the same Hawthorn at one point. A new adult male was accompanied by 2 or 3 first winter males which I've no doubt are his youngsters and have migrated together. 2 of these were clearly watching the adult hunting. A different adult male reappeared in the same spot where I last saw him 2 weeks ago, his moult almost complete now. A magical morning.

juv male. Present for it's 24th day. To view this bird park sensibly in the first part of Bennetts Lane allowing for farm machinery/ horse boxes, use the grass verges where you can. Take the footpath at the end of the lane straight ahead- due East, stay at the bottom of the field and cross it through the 'gate' into a small triangular field. The bird is either in the last 30metres of hedge in the far right corner of this field. or much more likely it is just around the right hand corner in the first 50metres of hedge. Please only walk the first 30metres if turning right until the obvious hedge crosses the track. Please do not walk further down the track, this is private.

juv male. The first of the Autumn for me. A bit of a confusing bird to sex/ age, looking scruffy, with a half-grown tail. Interestingly the tail feathers were rounded at the tip, perhaps they only become a bit more pointy when fully grown ? This bird clearly migrated with a half-grown tail !
