f. In trees just below Beacon car park, on path down towards S bend. Edit: After discussion with Mike Wallen I’m of the understanding that autumn Pied Fly’s are incredibly tricky to correctly sex. Although further discussion with Michael Hunt has lead me to wonder if it was actually a male, as in almost all cases any remnant of white markings on the forehead suggest a post moult male, the photo in the gallery shows this may be the case. Unfortunately it was only seen for 20 seconds, and I only managed one photo.

male. Lingering male now present for at least 3 days, quite mobile as usual but showing very well near path and benches. Seen giving sub-song on several occasions today too.

male. My first for Howe Park Wood and my 2nd record of the species in the Tattenhoe area. A stunning male showing well while catching flies around one of the outer ponds, also briefly foraging at ground level. Soon visited by several other observers. Image in the gallery.
