Email Alerts

If emails are sent to the county Yahoo Group some refinements have been made to the emailing process. If the species being reported is "scarce" then the "Send Email Alert" tickbox will be automatically ticked. Leaving it ticked will send an email to the Yahoo Group while unticking it will not send an email. Likewise, if the species is commoner the tickbox will not be automatically ticked and an email will not be sent to the Yahoo Group while ticking it will send an email. This facility allows you control over wether or not an email is sent to the Yahoo Group. For instance, with a scarce species you might have already emailed the group and don't want to repeat the information. With a commoner species you might want to send an email if you've noted something interesting about behaviour.

Species order and names

By default the species list is shown in alphabetical order with the traditional names (i.e. Wheater vs Northern Wheatear). When you're selecting a species from the drop-down list you can press a letter on the keyboard to jump to species beginning with that letter. For some people this makes navigating the list easier in alphabetical order. However, if you'd rather see the list in taxanomic (Voous) order you can by changing the "Species Order" option on your profile page. You can also change the "Species Names" on your profile page.
